Burford
Situated in North Oxfordshire and at the southern gateway of the Cotswolds is beautiful Burford. The famous highstreet heads down towards the river Windrush which is home to a three arched bridge.
Burford has a rich history that dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, it began as an agricultural village and in the early 12th century it gained its market charter. Soon after this, the population grew in size and received town status. The town is home to many medieval churches, with the most famous being St John the Baptist. It still holds onto some of its historic traditions like the Leveller’s day which includes a reconstruction to commemorate the end to the martyrs in the English Civil War as well as an annual festival

Parking in Burford
There is free car parking by the river at the lower end of the town. Turn right by Mrs Bumbles and follow the road past the church – be careful as you drive round here as there is only room for one car and there are often walkers in the road.
